Thanks Jerry for an interesting web site.  I was in the CCC for two of the best years that a farm boy could ever enjoy. Serving in camps from Maryland (two locations), California, Tennessee(three locations)afforded some wonderful traveling through our inspiring wonder of our country greatly enhanced by the CCC boys. World War II was a negative influence on what the CCC program could have been on a much greater scale

I am trying to find out how many CCC Camps were in Logan Co., WV and where they were. I know one was at Sharples, WV but was that the only one? I appreciate any help anyone can give me.

Hello! I recently began working for the WV CCC in Beckley, WV. I visited your site to learn more about the original CCC and I must say, I am impressed with the organization and content of your site. Well done! I especially enjoyed the photographs you have from all those years ago.

I was looking for information on the origins of WV parks for my grandson and came across the name of this website on several references. I am amazed at the information here and I am interested in all the details.

Your web site is amazing! I worked 36 years with the USDA Soil Conservation Service (SCS). The SCS supervised 903 CCC camps. I have developed a web site for our retirees. I have some CCC info on it at - http://www.arscse.org/nCCC.htm I have visited Lost River State Park several time and have met Ray Daugherty.

I had never heard of the CCC program until today 11/3/09. Now I am fascinated to learn more. My Dad. Joseph Herman Heavrin may have been in this during the early 30's?? Anyone with with any info, it would make me so happy to know more. Also a neighbor Corbett Speaks was in this also, and a cousin Harry Flaherty. Anything anyone knows would be so appreciated

My father was in the CCC for about 2 years. He worked in what is now the Kumbrabow State Forest. He talked about the hard work; working in the mess hall and cooking Thanksgiving turkeys with gullets still full of corn - lesson learned, always check the inside of a bird before you cook it; of the friends he met; and most importantly how it provided $25 a month for an non-English speaking Italian immigrant widow with 6 mouths to feed.

I have stayed in many of the WV State Parks and see the footprints left by the CCC Boys. I've used Cabins, walking bridges, stone staircases, shelters, trails, roads, overlooks, lakes and so many more things I can't recall that have withstood the test of time. Why don't we have a similar program today? This was one of Americas best investments. I have rented the "rustic cabins" at Babcock State Park several times while rafting in the area and love the atmosphere, THAT'S CAMPING!! I feel a similar program would insure a love of the great outdoors for many generations to come.

We train new veterans to create and manage new projects that benefit West Virginia. Our first project is the WV Rosie the Riveter Project, where we identify and interview West Virginian women who were "Rosie the Riveters" in World War II. We have been contacted by 90 women and have taken the stories of about 1/3, since late spring.

We hope to work with CCC in the future.

My grandfather, Bert L. Wriston, was a member of the WV CCC. I think at Camp Logan, but he didn't join the CCCs until 1940. So the dates don't match.

My family and I prefer staying in one of the CCC built log cabins at Babcock State Park whenever we rent a cabin there. It is like staying in a part of history. They are so well built and beautiful.

Just finished a vacation at Greenbrier State Forest. During our time there we stayed in a log cabin built by the CCC. What a treat! We didn't know it was built by the CCC until I talked to my Dad. The Greenbrier SF should have information about the CCC in the cabins. It was great to see a part of our history preserved and still used today!

I am working on a film titled "Blackwater Canyon: Portrait of the Wild Lands" and in it includes a segment about the CCC's camps in Davis and Parsons. I am looking for potential funders for the completion of the film. After completion it will be available to schools and the public. Can anyone suggest funders I can contact with ties to the CCC?

For Bob Anderson and Charlie Piercy.

The name of the book I was referring to at the Marion County Expo was "Once in a Lifetime" A Guide to the CCC Experience by Ned H. Dearborn. Watch eBay or a rare books store and you may find it.
