Debora Wykle Kerr

My father, James F. Wykle, served in the CCC at Camp Bowers (2594 S-62) from 1938 -1941. From the information on this website I was able to attain his service file from NARA. He was very surprised and pleased to see these papers and memories. Thank you! I'm hoping to find copies of some of the old "Tip Top" camp newspapers to show him some day.

Thanks for preserving the legacy of the CCC Boys. My father was at Camp Parsons and there is a photo of him in the Camp Parsons part of the web site. He is incorrectly identified as V.E. Bolyard. It should be K.E. BOLYARD. Thank You.

Robert L. "Bob" Anderson

My father was in the CCC camps at Onego, WV. His name was Ernest NMN Anderson, from Clarksburg, WV. He ran a dozer and helped build at least one road to the top of Spruce Knob. He was also stationed at Natural Bridge, KY, and I believe he was there the longest. I have pictures of him sitting in a steam engine at NB, KY and also a group picture with him and his cousin Haward Dodd also of Clarksburg. They are both deceased with my father passing in 1968. He worked at the B&O yard as a pipe fitter helper and was laid off in 1954, and times were rough from then on. I am retired now and look forward to visiting with you and I will bring along the pictures. "Bob"

Anita McClung

Looking for information on a gentleman by the name of Cortez McClung. We do not know if Cortez is his birth name, but it was the name he was known by. Mr. McClung was married in Kanawha County about 1925 and by 1930 was divorced. The only thing his daughter knows about him is that he joined the CCC in Welch, West Virginia.

I would be forever grateful if someone can tell me anything about this man. Just trying to help his daughter find out what became of her father.

I attended the first YCC Camp at Camp Wood, Alvon, WV during the summer of 1971. I think the camp was also known as Camp Alvon back in the CCC days. Looking for any others that attended the YCC camps during that summer. There were two camps that summer, one month each. Email me please.
Thanks,
Joe

My Dad was Fred H. Chandler from Clendenin, WV. He joined the CCCs in the 1930s and served until he went into the U.S. Army in 1939. My dad talked about being a driver for Major Tasatanna. The Major was a WW1 vet and had lost his left had in battle and wore a black glove on his left wrist. My dad passed in 1991 at the age of 74. I met one gentleman that was from Clendenin and knew my dad in the CCCs. I am looking forward to seeing the museum in Bridgeport. Dan Chandler

My father was Eugene C. Taylor, Jr. I have a picture of him in his uniform and I think the picture was taken in 1936. He was born in 1914. Daddy passed away the year the post office issued a stamp honoring the CCC's.

My father, James Arnold Markgraf served at the Bluestone and Raleigh camps. I'm interested in learning more about his experiences there. Thanks for the work you are doing.

By the way, I have many photos he took while at the camp. Are you interested in these?

Hello all. Just a note to let folks know that the Kanawha State Forest/Camp Kanawha CCC Reunion is going to be held this year on September 14, 2008 at Kanawha State Forest. The contact for further information is Ms. Rita Dale (304) 755-4650. Ms. Dale works so it would be best to call in the evenings or on weekends. Her Dad, Ron Dale, worked in Kanawha State Forest. Thanks and enjoy.
