I am a member of the Board of
Directors of the Surveyors Historical Society. We are having a national
Surveyors Rendezvous in September 2009 at Camp Caesar in Webster
County. It was not a CCC camp but they probably did some work there. We
would like to have memoirs or photos of CCC workers learning surveying
during their service. Photos of CCC workers using surveying equipment
would be especially welcome.

Hello, I am posting this on behalf
of my grandfather. His name is Fred "JR" Osendott Jr and was a member
of a CCC camp in West Virginia. I am looking for any information on him
or anyone who may have served with him. I believe he told me he helped
build Hawks Nest (or maybe Eagles Nest) which is a state park in West
Virginia. He has a CCC tattoo on his forearm consisting of a simple
triangular "pine tree" design with a C in each corner. Any information
or help is appreciated. I can be reached at the e-mail address listed
in this guestbook, if it does not show up, it is
fadedhorizons@yahoo.com Thank you all for any and all help.

I am a historian working on an
exhibit and a book on the CCC at Grand Canyon National Park. I am
always interested in how other states, parks, etc. interpret the CCC.
We are looking for former enrollees that worked at Grand Canyon
National Park as well as the state of Arizona.

This is a wonderful resource. My
grandfather John Boling worked for the CCC in West Virginia. His work
planted the seed that eventually became this site! I'm looking forward
to seeing it grow.

My father, James F. Bennett Sr, was
born in a secluded area of OH, Seneca County. He was orphaned at the
age of 12 when his father died from asthma preceding his mothers'
leaving the dirt poor farm where they lived. His mis guided alcoholic
uncle became his custodian until my dad had enough of his abuse and ran
away from the farm himself.
He joined the CCC's and was enrolled from 1934 - 1937, working his way
from laborer to truck driver/road construction, at Fort Knox, KY, Cass,
WV, Camp Seebert, WV and Huttonsville, WV.
He was extremely proud of his service and spoke of it all of his life.
(b: 1916, d: 2004). His love affair with WV, as a result, was complete;
he never left the state excepting for his ARMY service, called himself
a "WV BOY" and loved its people.

My stepfather (now deceased over 10
years ago) spoke often and highly of CCC when I was a child. That's
what makes me interested in finding out more.

I work for a Historic Preservation
Consultant in WV and we have recently been hired to document CCC and
other New Deal resources in 16 State Parks and Forests in the state.
Does any one have historic photos they would be willing to share of
pertinent resources?
Thank you. Jean Boger

My father, Adrian Ray Simmons, Sr.
was a CCC "boy" & was proud of it. As a child I can remember going
to some of the places he'd helped to construct. I have his ring (worse
for the wear) & a few camp newsletters. His was Co.3520 Camp S-72
Elkwater, WV 1936.

Thanks for the research you have
completed to set up this website! It is wonderful to think that we can
still enjoy the results of the work that CCC members did so many years
ago. I think WV has one of the best state park systems in the US! The
CCC members helped make it the best!

My father always told me the story
of how he planted trees along the stretch of road between Nutter Fort
and Quiet Dell during his time with CCC. If anyone remembers him I
would love to hear from you - his name was Amos Willard "Doc" Ferrebee.

My grand father was in the CCC. I
am currently working on our family history
and have come across several pictures.
One is an 8x10 of an entire group including my grandfather in Fort Knox
Kentucky. The other pictures are smaller of him and other men. There is
one of a trail they are working on I believe it is of Camp Watoga
because he was also there for a while. The other is of some barricks I
believe to also be Camp Watoga.
If there is anyone out there who would be interested in seeing these
pictures please let me know. I would be happy to e-mail them to you.
